Internships

WiN awards undergraduate students a summer internship in a research or a clinical setting with its partners such as UT Neuroscience or Dell Medical Neurology. Students gain significant knowledge about the fields of neuroscience and neurology, hands-on experience, and personal and professional growth. The internship includes a stipend, allowing interns to dedicate their summer to learning.

Student Interns: A Day in the Life

Each intern is selected by a research host to intern in his/her lab. Interns will shadow and work hands-on with the research or clinical host and team to understand lab protocol, complete research/clinical tasks, and learn how the Scientific Method furthers research in that lab and in the fields of neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, psychology, and speech and communication.

Throughout the internship, interns come together for journal club, presentations, workshops, and socials to broaden knowledge in these fields and to enhance personal and professional development.

At the conclusion of the internship, interns participate in a Research Poster Symposium and their share experiences with community members.

  • My WiN internship in 2019 was quite influential to where I am today. It was one of my first introductions to applied engineering and how it can be used to get better results in medicine.
